MemNote

Browser extension for Chrome and Brave that lets you select text on any webpage, add notes, and find it all later. Local storage, no accounts, no cloud sync selling your reading habits.

Why this exists

I kept losing track of things I'd read online. Bookmarks don't capture context. Screenshots are unsearchable. I wanted to highlight a passage, add a note, and actually find it again when I needed it.

Current state

Works locally. Full dashboard with search and filtering, re-highlights annotations when you revisit pages, exports to JSON. Ready for Chrome Web Store submission.

What I learned

The hard part isn't saving the annotation—it's reliably re-highlighting it when page content shifts. DOM anchoring is trickier than it looks.

What's next

Publish to Chrome Web Store. Explore monetization options—probably freemium with cloud sync or team features as paid tier.
