Commerce

CinderCommerce

A planned spiritual successor to Magento 1, targeting the mid-market segment Adobe abandoned. Headless-first, B2B/B2C hybrid, built on Elixir. Currently exists as research and strategy docs, not code.

Why this exists

Magento 1 was great. Magento 2 was a mess. Adobe Commerce pivoted to enterprise and left the mid-market ($1M-$50M revenue) with no good options. Shopify is too limiting, Adobe is too expensive, and the open-source alternatives are life support for a dying ecosystem. Someone should build what Magento 3 should have been.

Current state

Research and planning only. Market analysis, competitive positioning, and architecture docs exist. No production code yet. This is a continuation of the CrimsonCommerce concept with clearer focus.

What I learned

The market opportunity is real—$155B GMV stuck on legacy Magento with nowhere good to go. But building an ecommerce platform is a multi-year commitment, not a side project. Honesty about scope matters.

What's next

Parked until other projects generate enough runway to justify the investment. If AuroraGRC or MapleArmory take off, this gets revisited.
